Storage Tips
How big a unit do you need?
When it comes to storing furniture and belongings, you need about 1/3 of your floor area converted into storage volume measured in cubic metres.
30 m²: Storage need approx. 10 m³.
120 m²: Storage need approx. 40 m³.
Pack in boxes and the storage need is reduced somewhat. If you use sturdy and standardised boxes, you can also stack efficiently upwards, and you will fit more than you think.
Selvbetjeningslageret offers completely no-obligation viewings. Most people then quickly work out their storage needs. With future needs in mind, some prefer to rent two smaller units rather than one large one. You decide, and the price is the same. Should your storage needs change after a while, you can switch to a larger or smaller unit at no extra cost.

Our storage tips
- Plan your storage room. Feel free to make a small central aisle. Place items you want easy access to nearest the door.
- Preferably pack in sturdy self-locking boxes.
- Label boxes, make an inventory list and tape boxes securely shut.
- Stack with a little space between, so there is some air circulation.
- Standard box sizes make it easier to stack and utilise the storage volume. Take weight into account.
- Make use of empty space in, for example, cupboards and drawers.
- Fragile items such as plates and glasses should be packed in bubble wrap.
- Tables with legs that can be removed should be disassembled.
- Pictures and mirrors should be stored on edge.
- If possible, tables and sofas should be stored on edge to save space.
- Cover and protect valuable furniture and items.
- Refrigerators and freezers must be defrosted and dried thoroughly before storage. Coolant should be drained off. Store with the door slightly open.
- For storage over a longer period, furniture etc. should be covered with sheets or similar. You can buy protective covers in our shop.
