Last updated: 7 June 2026

This privacy policy explains how Selvbetjeningslageret AS collects and processes personal data when you use our website, book storage, or contact us.

Data controller

Selvbetjeningslageret AS (org. no. 987 388 676) is the data controller for the personal data processed in connection with our services.

What data we collect

  • Contact and customer data: name, address, email, phone number.

  • Contract data: date of birth and proof of identity to create a rental contract, and information needed for a credit assessment.

  • Account data: login information when you create a customer account (handled via Firebase Authentication).</li>

  • Communications: messages you send us via chat, email, SMS or phone.

  • Usage data: technical information about your visit such as IP address, device, browser and website usage, and cookies (see separate section).

Why we process your data (purposes and legal basis)

  • To perform the rental agreement — creating and managing your booking, contract, access and invoicing (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)).

  • Credit assessment — we run a credit check before entering into a rental agreement. You are always informed and receive a copy notice from the credit reference agency (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b) and (f)).

  • To comply with legal obligations — including accounting and bookkeeping requirements (GDPR Art. 6(1)(c)).

  • Legitimate interests — customer service, security (including CCTV at our facilities), service improvement and fraud prevention (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)).

  • Consent — for non-essential cookies and any marketing (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)). Consent can be withdrawn at any time.

CCTV surveillance

Our facilities are monitored by CCTV around the clock for security and to prevent and resolve incidents. Recordings are stored for a limited period ⚠️ (state the number of days) and then deleted automatically.

Who we share data with

We never sell your personal data. We use data processors that provide services on our behalf, including:

  • Space Manager – storage and unit management

  • Firebase / Google – login and authentication

  • SMS Teknik – sending SMS messages

  • Uploadcare – storage of uploaded images

  • Hosting, analytics and error-monitoring providers (Sentry)

Processors only process data on our instructions and under data processing agreements. Where data is transferred outside the EU/EEA, the transfer is safeguarded by a lawful transfer mechanism (e.g. the EU Standard Contractual Clauses).

How long we keep your data

We keep personal data for as long as necessary for the purposes above. Contract and customer data are kept for the duration of the customer relationship and thereafter for as long as required by law (accounting records are kept for five years after the end of the financial year). Other data is deleted when no longer needed.
